Horse of the Year Zenyatta is heading to the breeding shed.
Lane's End Farm announced Wednesday the superstar mare will be bred to 2006 Preakness Stakes winner Bernardini.
The son of prominent sire A.P. Indy stands for $75,000 at Darley. Bernardini was the 3-year-old champion in 2006 when he won six times in eight starts, including the Preakness and the Jockey Club Gold Cup.
Zenyatta was retired in November after a spectacular career in which she won 19 times in 20 starts, the 7-year-old's only defeat coming by a head to Blame in the Breeders' Cup Classic. She edged Blame to win the Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year last week.
