Georgia Tech's Derrick Morgan and Demaryius Thomas were both selected in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft Thursday night.
The last time two Yellow Jackets were taken in the first round of the draft came in 1979 when Eddie Lee Ivery (Green Bay) and Kent Hill (Los Angeles Rams) were drafted 15th and 26th overall, respectively.
Morgan and Thomas are the first of at least four Georgia Tech players expected to be drafted in the next few days.
Morgan, an All-American defensive end, was the 16th overall selection by the Tennessee Titans. Morgan was the first Tech player to be selected in the first round since Calvin Johnson was the second overall pick in the 2007 draft by the Detroit Lions.
