Now that New York Yankees rookie pitcher Jacob Lindgren has joined the big show, his comical performance as rapper "Big Chunk" in a music video for the group "Bench Mobb" has come to light (above).
Having to answer questions about some old hijinks once you become a professional is hardly a reason not to engage in them. Quite the opposite. Imagine how hysterical Lindgren's fellow Mississippi State University Bench Mobbsters (representing on Lindgren's Twitter background) must be while watching Lindgren answer questions about the rap video parody that took place inside a dugout filled with small backpacks, a wrestling title belt and shades of various tints.
The Bench Mobb produced that video in 2013. Now check out YES Network's Chris Shearn asking Lindgren about it recently, before the Yankees called up the lefty from the minors on May 23. As soon as Lindgren recognizes the line Shearn quotes, he can't help but smirk.
Lindgren made his MLB debut on May 25 out of the bullpen against the Royals, striking out two and walking two in two scoreless innings. Also, as far as parody rap videos go, Bench Mobb's is pretty legit.
