WR Terrell Chatman commits as late addition to ASU recruiting class
Arizona State coach Todd Graham on signing day last week pointed out his 2015 recruiting class didn't have a receiver, but he added the Sun Devils would add one should they like the fit.
Less than a week later, ASU got its wideout with the commitment of 4-star prospect Terrell Chatman from Baton Rouge, La.
Chatman's decision was expected to come on signing day last Wednesday, but he pushed the announcement back to ensure he made the right choice. ASU, Miami, Georgia and TCU made his final list of schools.
The final word didn't come until Monday, but it's certain ASU is happy with the news of their 23rd commitment in the class.
At 6-feet-3 and 180 pounds, the Central High School product ranked as the 55th-best receiver in his class by Scout.com. His commitment moved the Sun Devils to No. 17 in Scout's team recruiting rankings for 2015.
It would be surprising for Chatman to receive significant snaps in 2015, though with plays like below, nothing seems out of the realm of possibility.
The Sun Devils lost leading receiver Jaelen Strong to the NFL Draft but return Cameron Smith, Ellis Jefferson, Ronald Lewis, Gary Chambers, Frederick Gammage and Eric Lauderdale, all of whom appeared on the two-deep depth chart last season.
D.J. Foster's move from running back to a more full-time receiving position will also fill in a spot in the receiving group, making it likely Chatman will be able to grow into a more significant role down the road.
