Woods, Vonn confirm relationship on facebook

March 18, 2013

Relationships these days aren't official until they're "Facebook official."

Well, count Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn as truly official now.
Woods and Vonn both announced, via Facebook, their friendship has advanced to full-blown dating on Monday, adding several pictures of the couple on each of their Facebook pages.
Woods, 37, and Vonn, 28, had been rumored for months to be romantically linked, but they decide to announce their relationship publicly and asked for privacy after confirming all of the news.
"This season has been great so far and I'm happy with my wins at Torrey and Doral," Woods wrote on his Facebook page Monday, a week after winning the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship. "Something nice that's happened off the course was meeting Lindsey Vonn. Lindsey and I have been friends for some time, but over the last few months we have become very close and are now dating. We thank you for your support and for respecting our privacy. We want to continue our relationship, privately, as an ordinary couple and continue to compete as athletes."
Woods is having a sort of comeback season early in 2013, ranking second on the money list so far this year thanks to two wins in four events. Of course, Woods has struggled with consistency ever since his high-profile marriage with Elin Nordegren ended in divorce.
Vonn, who was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and grew up skiing at Buck Hill in Burnsville, divorced her husband of four years in 2011. The downhill skiing star is still rehabbing from a severe knee injury suffered in a horrific crash in the World Championships in Austria in February. Vonn insists she will be ready to return for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Vonn still won the World Cup downhill this season, despite the injury, with enough points tallied before her crash.
Vonn acknowledged the relationship between her and Woods wasn't much of a secret.
"I guess it wasn't a well-kept secret but yes, I am dating Tiger Woods," Vonn wrote on her Facebook page. "Our relationship evolved from a friendship into something more over these past few months and it has made me very happy. I don't plan on addressing this further as I would like to keep that part of my life between us, my family and close friends. Thank you for understanding and your continued support! xo LV."
