Wolves’ Love set for hand surgery Tuesday

Kevin Love will undergo surgery Tuesday on the third and fourth metacarpals in his right hand, which he injured on Jan. 3 in Denver.
Dr. Michelle Carlson at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York will perform the surgery. The doctor who treated Love's past two hand injuries, Dr. Andy Weiland, was unavailable until later in the week. Love is expected to miss 8-10 weeks, which will likely keep him out until mid-March.
Love first broke the third and fourth metacarpals in his right hand before the season began, on Oct. 17, and returned to action Nov. 21. And his season has been filled with a series of freak incidents, including a bruised thumb, an incident when he was poked in the eye and two bouts with illness.
In 18 games this season, Love has averaged 18.3 points and 14.0 rebounds. He has 14 double-doubles on the season.
