MINNEAPOLIS -- Kevin Martin underwent surgery Tuesday morning to repair the fracture in his right wrist. The Timberwolves shooting guard will be sidelined six to eight weeks, according to a team press release.

Martin injured his wrist last Wednesday in the first quarter of Minnesota's 115-99 victory over New York. He went on to score 37 points and connect on seven 3-pointers despite playing with the fracture above his shooting hand.

Dr. Thomas Graham performed the operation at the Cleveland Clinic.

That leaves two starters who are out for at least the next month. Point guard Ricky Rubio is rehabbing from a severely sprained ankle. No timetable has been issued for his return, but he said he hopes to be back by Christmas.

Center Nikola Pekovic, another starter, has a wrist injury of his own, though it's just a sprain.

Though nine games, Martin is averaging 20.4 points on 48.3-percent shooting (48.1 from 3-point range). Corey Brewer is the likely candidate to start in his place, and his absence opens up more minutes for reserves Shabazz Muhammad, Chase Budinger and Zach LaVine on the wing.
