Wolves, FOX Sports North to host Feb. 2 broadcast auction for charity
The Minnesota Timberwolves and FOX Sports North are partnering to hold their second annual broadcast auction benefitting the Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation. On Feb. 2, fans will have the opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind Wolves experiences starting at 9 a.m. and lasting until the end of the Minnesota vs. Dallas telecast Monday evening on FOX Sports North.
Bids can be placed by calling 612-673-1275. Early bidding runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Phone lines open again at 6:30 p.m. with the start of FOX Sports North's Wolves Live pregame show and will close at the conclusion of the postgame show. Bid updates will be available on timberwolves.com/auction and throughout the telecast of the Wolves game, which tips shortly after 7 p.m. The Timberwolves Dancers will be answering the telephones and taking bids during the game.
Items up for bid include:
- Ultimate Fan Package -- Experience for four. Includes access to courtside pregame warmups, a meet-and-greet with select players, tour of the Timberwolves locker room and team facilities, pregame meal in the media dining area, courtside seats, tour of the TV production truck, meet-and-greet with FOX Sports North announcers Dave Benz and Jim Petersen, one autographed game jersey and access to the postgame press conference with head coach Flip Saunders. Starting bid: $1,500.
- Road Trip with the Wolves -- Trip for two to Chicago on February 26-27. Includes roundtrip flight on the team charter to Chicago, luxury accommodations at the team hotel, dinner and tickets to the Wolves at Bulls game on Feb. 27. Starting bid: $1,000
- Pizza Party and Youth Practice with Player -- Timberwolves player will attend a youth basketball practice, offer tips and instructions. The player will then host a pizza party for the team after practice. Starting bid: $500
Each item has a buyout option that gives bidders an opportunity to purchase and secure the package. Auction items and details are available at www.timberwolves.com/auction.
Individual donations to the FastBreak Foundation will also be accepted during the auction. Fans who donate $79 or more will receive an autographed print featuring Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine. There are only 100 of these limited-edition prints available.
During the evening, FOX Sports North will also highlight the FastBreak Foundation's year-round outreach by featuring interviews from individuals and organizations it has directly impacted.
The Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation provides and supports hands-on programs that positively impact Minnesota youth. Through giving, education and basketball opportunities, the foundation enables young people to make responsible decisions, contribute to their futures and experience lifelong memories. In the past year, the Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation and the Minnesota Lynx Foundation have combined to impact 2,146 organizations with $842,790 in in-kind donations, 20,000 Tickets for Kids donations, 3,107 volunteer hours, 53 community members honored on-court, and 15 grants distributed.
