Wildcat reunion: Steve Kerr and Chip Hale, Parts 1-4
Chip Hale and Steve Kerr had much in common when they both attended the University of Arizona in the late 1980s and starred for their respective teams. This year, both of these cerebral, hard-working, make-the-most-of-your-tools former athletes were called to leadership positions at the highest levels of professional sports -- Hale as manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks, and Kerr as head coach of the Golden State Warriors.
When Kerr's Warriors were in town earlier this season to battle the Phoenix Suns, Hale joined him for a lunch arranged by none other than FOX Sports Arizona reporter/host Todd Walsh, who happened to be a team manager of the Arizona basketball team during the heydays of Kerr and Hale.
The two ex-Wildcats clearly still have much in common. Here are all four parts of the session, which was filmed as part of our Diamondbacks Cactus League Weekly show.
Part 2: Kerr and Hale discuss the common principles they try to apply to their jobs leading their respective teams.
Part 3: Kerr and Hale discuss the challenges of team leadership -- focusing on how to deal with losing.
Part 4: Kerr and Hale discuss their unexpected career paths that led them to their current statuses as NBA head coach and major-league manager.
