ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Wild traded defenseman Chay Genoway on Thursday to the Washington Capitals for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in the 2014 draft.

Genoway, 26, has played the entire season with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. In 53 games with Houston, he had four goals and 15 assists and was a plus-11.

Genoway was signed by Minnesota as a college free agent out of North Dakota on April 12, 2011. He made his NHL debut last season, playing one game with the Wild and earning an assist.

Earlier in the week, Minnesota traded enforcer Matt Kassian, who was playing with the Aeros at the time, to the Ottawa Senators for a sixth-round pick in the 2014 draft. The Wild also signed veteran defenseman Brett Clark on Wednesday.
