How about another playoff series between the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche?
With the St. Louis Blues losing Sunday at Detroit, Colorado won the Central Division, meaning Minnesota will face Colorado in the first round of the playoffs starting on Thursday. The Wild, the top Wild Card team in the Western Conference, will be making its fifth postseason appearance and will be facing the Avalanche for the third time in the playoffs.
Colorado, the No. 2 seed in the West, will host Game 1 on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. and Game 2 on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
The series will shift to Minnesota for Game 3 on Monday, April 21 at 6 p.m. Game 4 will be Thursday, April 24 at 8:30 p.m. If necessary, Game 5 would be on April 26 with Game 6 on April 28 and a possible Game 7 on April 30.
The teams met five times this season with the Wild finishing 0-3-1.
Of course, Minnesota sent Colorado coach Patrick Roy into retirement in 2003 after the Wild won a seven-game series against the Avalanche with Andrew Brunette's game-winning goal in overtime against Roy. Minnesota would end up advancing to the conference finals before losing to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
Each of the three playoff series between the Wild and Colorado have been in the first round.
