Wild activate Harding off IR, place goalie on waivers

Josh Harding's route back to the NHL and the Minnesota Wild will likely include a stop in the American Hockey League.

Minnesota activated Harding off injured reserve on Monday and placed the veteran goaltender on waivers. Any NHL team will be able to claim Harding. But Harding is likely to clear waivers and would be reassigned to the Iowa Wild of the AHL.

Harding, 30, has been on injured reserve the entire season because of a foot injury, which also led the team to suspend Harding before the season.

Playing in Iowa would give Harding a chance to play in games again. Harding hasn't played since Dec. 31 as he dealt with another complication from multiple sclerosis. He worked his way back into playing shape in the offseason, but suffered the foot injury before the season began.
