Whitecaps rally to tie FC Dallas
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- Kekuta Manneh and Camilo scored 3 minutes apart to give the Vancouver Whitecaps a 2-2 tie with MLS-leading FC Dallas on Saturday.
The 18-year-old Manneh, who subbed in during the 54th minute for Jun Marques Davidson, pulled the Whitecaps within one off a rebound, and Camilo tied it in the 75th minute on a shot that deflected off a defender.
"It always feels good to score," Manneh said. "It's my first professional goal, so I'm really excited about that. It definitely boosts my morale and my confidence," said Manneh.
Dallas opened the scoring on an own goal in the ninth minute, and Matt Hedges made it 2-0 in the 47th.
"Give the Whitecaps credit," Sallas coach Schellas Hyndman said. "They fought very hard, put a lot of people forward, created numerous opportunities and, unfortunately we had a man down, had a 2-0 lead and survived a tie."
Dallas (6-1-2) remained unbeaten in six games. The Whitecaps (2-3-3) remained unbeaten in three games at home, but have gone six games overall without a win.
"Ultimately, we showed heart today -- and desire," Whitecaps defender Brad Rusin said.
