Week 10 Start and Sit Suggestions
For Week 10 of the NFL season, we are now back to a four-team bye: Bills, Colts, Lions, and Raiders. As far as our start list is concerned, we have positional promotions and players with easy matchups. On the downside, we potentially have players who could find their way to being droppable in the near future.
Here are some suggestions for Week 10...
Starts:
QB: Joe Flacco, Ravens
I always hesitate to put players from Thursday on the start list, but this matchup is too good to pass up (cue the jinx). Flacco already faced the Browns earlier this season: 302 passing yards and two TDs. In fact, that was Flacco's only game where he threw for multiple touchdowns this year. If you have Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford, or Derek Carr on a bye, Flacco might be able to get the job done.
Others to start: Jameis Winston (Buccaneers), Jay Cutler (Bears), and Eli Manning (Giants)
RB: Darren Sproles, Eagles
Doug Pederson made the announcement that Sproles is the No. 1 running back for Philly. Last week, against the Giants, Sproles led the matchup with 13 carries for 57 yards on the ground. He was even targeted nine times in the passing game, too. However, beware the vultures. Both Kenjon Barner and Ryan Mathews scored the short-yardage rushing TDs in that game. Sproles is a must-play in PPR and almost a must-start in standard leagues.
Others to start: Chris Ivory (Jaguars), Rob Kelley (Redskins), and Isaiah Crowell (Browns)
WR: Davante Adams, Packers
With Green Bay's running game in shambles, it's centered around the pass even more than normal. Adams, and all Packers WRs, are startable until they add the running game into the mix. In the past four weeks, Adams is tied with Mike Evans for the second-most targets (41) and trail only Golden Tate (43). Granted, Evans' stats are with three games and the others have four during that span.
Others to start: Terrelle Pryor Sr. (Browns), Ty Montgomery (Packers), and Randall Cobb (Packers)
TE: Lance Kendricks, Rams
If you need to replace Eric Ebron or Jack Doyle on your fantasy roster, go with this Rams TE. Kendricks has notched at least eight targets in three straight games. The stats would've been even better for him last week if he didn't drop a touchdown.
Others to start: C.J. Fiedorowicz (Texans), Jason Witten (Cowboys), and Zach Miller (Bears)
Sit:
QB: Colin Kaepernick, 49ers
If you needed a quarterback last week and added/started Kaepernick, congrats. CK7 did his job as a fill-in streaming option. However, don't be fooled into thinking that he can repeat such a performance. Kaepernick had a favorable matchup against the Saints and capitalized on it. His game against the Cardinals won't be as easy. Last week, Cam Newton threw for only 212 yards and zero TDs against Arizona.
Others to bench: Brock Osweiler (Texans), Trevor Siemian (Broncos), and Alex Smith (Chiefs)
RB: James White, Patriots
Is Dion Lewis ready to go yet (Editor's note: Lewis could make his return this week against Seattle)? The carries are starting to diminish and now the targets are, too. White recorded only two catches in each of the past two games and only two total carries in the last two weeks. Against the Seahawks, only LeSean McCoy (four catches), David Johnson (eight), and Bilal Powell (six) has surpasses the three-catch mark. Once Lewis fully makes his return, White will be among the droppables.
Others to bench: Bilal Powell (Jets), Christine Michael (Seahawks), and Tim Hightower (Saints)
WR: Cameron Meredith, Bears
Well, I wanted to see how Jay Cutler would use Meredith in this offense and I got my answer: he wasn't used much. Meredith saw two targets from Cutler last week. While you could try to blame this on the matchup with the Vikings secondary, Zach Miller and Alshon Jeffery each received at least eight targets from Cutler.
Others to bench: Chris Hogan (Patriots), Will Fuller (Texans), and Michael Floyd (Cardinals)
TE: Gary Barnidge, Browns
Is there anyone who misses Josh McCown more than Barnidge? He's caught only three passes in three of the past four games and was only targeted three times in his last game. Also, Barnidge has yet to score a TD. That won't change this Thursday. Baltimore is one of three teams to not allow a TD to opposing TEs this season (Vikings and Cardinals are the other two).
Others to bench: Coby Fleener (Saints), Julius Thomas (Jaguars), and Cameron Brate (Buccaneers)
