OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) Severe weather has caused Monmouth Park Racetrack to cancel its final two races.
Bob Kulina, president of the group that operates the New Jersey Shore thoroughbred racetrack, says heavy rains and lightning blew through the area around 3:30 p.m. Friday, making it impossible to race.
He says: ''Obviously, the safety of our riders and horses is paramount.''
Kulina says the races that were canceled will be raced on Monday's card.
