Watson's free throws lift NMSU to victory

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) -- Tyrone Watson hit two free throws with nine-tenths of a second remaining to give New Mexico State a 73-72 victory against Cal State Bakersfield on Monday night.

Issiah Grayson made the first of two free throws to give Cal State Bakersfield a one-point lead with two seconds left. After Grayson missed the second attempt, Watson rebounded the ball and was fouled by Donald Johnson.

Watson had nine points, all from the free-throw line, for the Aggies (10-5). After his last two shots, Stephon Carter's desperation 3-point shot missed.

Daniel Mullings scored 21 points and Wendell McKines added 12 points and seven rebounds for New Mexico State.

Carter had 16 points, and Johnson and Tyrone White added 15 each for Cal State Bakersfield (7-8). Grayson had 10 assists and four steals.
