ARLINGTON, Texas – The season has just begun for the Texas Rangers and manager Ron Washington already has some peace and luck on his side.

Washington's office desk has a pair of new additions that he's hoping will help his team through the season.

The first is a wooden elephant that was given to him by his wife Gerry. The elephant has his trunk up and his legs up, which is supposed to bring good luck. Washington said he has elephants all over his house.

Washington also has an origami crane on his desk courtesy of Story Elementary in Allen. The school tried to shower the Rangers with luck in the form of paper cranes.

The school sent Washington 1,220 paper cranes made by 114 students at the school. Washington picked the one he liked best and put in on his desk and put the rest on the clubhouse.

"I looked at it and I was impressed," Washington said. "I couldn't put it together. That was nice."

Washington was just as impressed by the note that came with the package.

"We would like you and your players and your staff to enjoy this symbol of peace as you begin the new season," the note said inside the huge box said.
