Walsh Jennings, Ross advance to World Series final

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) Top-seeded Americans Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross won two matches Saturday to advance to the final Sunday in the World Series of Beach Volleyball.

Walsh Jennings and Ross beat eighth-seeded Marleen Van Iersel and Madelein Meppelink of the Netherlands 21-16, 21-16, and topped 14th-seeded Dominika Nestarcova and Natalia Dubovcova of Slovakia 21-14, 21-16.

''The crowd was awesome,'' Walsh Jennings said. ''It was like heaven out there. The crowd appreciates the hustle and how hard it is to go through a rally and that makes you work harder.''

They will face fifth-seeded Agatha Bednarczuk and Barbara Seixas of Brazil.

The top-seeded U.S. tea, of Sean Rosenthal and Phil Dalhausser also reached the final, beating 16th-seeded Alexander Walkenhorst and Stefan Windscheif of Germany 21-13, 21-12.

''We didn't get their best today,'' Dalhausser said. ''We got a little lucky. And, we played well, too.''

Rosenthal and Dalhausser will play second-seeded Mariusz Prudel and Grzegorz Fjalek of Poland.
