Vikings face tough 2014 schedule

A 5-10-1 finish gave the Minnesota Vikings the worst record in the NFC North this season, but 2014 doesn't look like a last-place schedule.

As part of the NFL's schedule rotation, Minnesota is scheduled to play the NFC South and AFC East next season, in addition to its six games against the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers in the North. The Vikings also get the other two last-place teams in the NFC, which were Washington and St. Louis.

The 2014 schedule with dates and times will be announced in the spring, but the opponents and locations have been determined.

Minnesota will host Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay, the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Washington Redskins, New England Patriots and New York Jets next season, while playing the first of two seasons in TCF Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus.

The Vikings will travel to face the Bears, Lions, Packers, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (and former coach Leslie Frazier), St. Louis Rams, Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.

The 2014 season begins on Thursday, Sept. 4.
