Vikings defeat Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP)
-- Norris Cole scored 21 points to lead Cleveland State to a 61-51 win over Youngstown State on Saturday night, snapping the Vikings' two-game skid.

Cleveland State (16-3, 5-2 Horizon League) shot only 32.7 percent from the field (18 of 55), but hit 20 of 23 free throws.

From the line, Cole was 9 of 10 and Trevon Harmon 7 of 8 to finish with 16 points.

After the Penguins jumped out to a 7-0 lead, the Vikings scored the next nine points and led 21-14 at halftime.

Youngstown State got to 32-29 with 14:15 to go, then Cleveland State used a 14-0 spurt to pull away.

The Penguins (7-10, 1-6), who have lost four of their last five, shot 21.4 percent from the floor in the first half (6 of 28), improving to 54.5 percent in the second (12 of 22). They were 11 of 21 from the line.

Damian Eargle scored 20 points to lead Youngstown State, which was outrebounded 44-32.
