USMNT defender Jermaine Jones scheduled to undergo sports hernia surgery on Tuesday
LOS ANGELES
New England midfielder Jermaine Jones will undergo surgery to repair a sports hernia complaint on Tuesday.
“Tomorrow is my surgery,” Jones said. “I’ll be out for a couple of weeks, but I’ll come back sharp.”
Instead of returning to the Boston area for treatment, Jones will address the lingering issue in Los Angeles and start his rehabilitation with one eye on the Revolution’s season opener in Seattle on March 8.
Jones will have approximately a month to recover from the operation before the start of the MLS season. That period is expected to provide him with enough time to recuperate from the surgery and place him in contention to start the season with the Revs as expected.
The complete timeline for his return will be determined once the surgery is complete, according to a Revolution spokesperson.
