Sisters Nicole Whiston, 14, and Waverly Whiston, 16, took out the No. 2 seeds in the 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship on Monday, as part of a day that was full of upsets.

Sierra Brooks, 17, and Kristen Gillman, 18, lost to the sister tandem by a 1-up margin.

"They were challenging us," said Nicole, via the USGA. "They didn't give it away."

"We knew we were playing with one of the best," said Waverly. "We knew we had to come out there with our best. This one (Nicole) was making everything. She kept us up for most of the day."

Seven of the tournament's top 10 seeds were eliminated on Monday. In addition to the second-seeded team, Nos. 3 through 6, 9 and 10 also fell in the first round.
