US, European swimmers to meet in Duel in the Pool in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Two teams of top swimmers from the U.S. and Europe will compete in the Duel in the Pool on Dec. 11-12.

The short-course meet will be held at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis, the site of the first event in 2003 and four-time host of the U.S. Olympic swimming trials.

The U.S. is 6-0 in the event that has been held every other year since it began. The Americans beat Europe 132-131 in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2013.

Rosters will be announced in early October. Prize money of over $120,000 will be awarded.

NBC will air coverage of the meet on Dec. 19.
