Urban Meyer joins Twitter
Urban Meyer found a way to pack one more off-field development into a summer full of them at Ohio State.
With his Buckeyes preparing to open the season at home against Buffalo on Saturday, Meyer quietly added his presence to social network Twitter, using the name OSUCoachMeyer.
A few OSU reporters noticed while awaiting the announcement of Ohio State's captains Tuesday night, but initially there was no confirmation if it was indeed a real account. Several fakes have sprung up since Meyer was hired as the head coach of the Buckeyes in late November 2011, and in interviews he has never expressed much interest in joining.
But the list of those this new account followed – including his wife and daughters, some Ohio State players and members of the coaching and training staff – gave a hint this one was legit.
Then he removed all doubt with his first Tweet, and that brought with it another unexpected bit of information regarding a fellow national championship head coach with Ohio roots.

So, the question becomes, will Meyer become a Twitter personality, or will he lose interest in this particular method of communication and let his handle fade into obscurity?
There is certainly interest in following Meyer, who zoomed past 12,000 followers in a little more than an hour.
