Umpires announced for tonight
ATLANTA - Major League Baseball has announced the six umpires that will work this afternoon's wild card matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves.
The crew chief and umpire assigned to call balls and strikes behind home plate will be veteran Jeff Kellogg, who has worked seven Division Series, five League Championship Series and four World Series. Kyle Lohse, who will start on the mound for the Cardinals, allowed two runs on seven hits in seven innings with Kellogg behind the plate on July 25 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Umpire Rob Drake, who has had issues with catcher Yadier Molina in the past, will work the game but has been assigned to the right field line. The two should have plenty of distance between them.
The complete umpiring crew for Friday's game:
HP - Jeff Kellogg (7 DS, 5 LCS, 4 WS)
1B - Mike Winters (6 DS, 4 LCS, 3 WS)
2B - Gary Cederstrom (6 DS, 5 LCS, 2 WS)
