UCF football coach George O'Leary tabbed as interim athletic director
George O'Leary will be pulling double duty for UCF for at least the 2015 season.
O'Leary, who has been the football coach since 2004, will also serve as the interim athletic director for the remainder of 2015, the school announced Tuesday morning.
The addition to his duties was prompted by the impending departure of Todd Stansbury, who takes over as the athletic director for Oregon State on Aug. 1.
"George's leadership and knowledge of athletics -- which includes programs beyond football -- will keep UCF moving forward academically, competitively and in the community," school president John Hitt said in a release. "His national connections will also help us continue building the Knights' reputation around the country."
Hitt also said the school will determine the leadership structure going forward at the end of the year.
O'Leary has a 81-60 record in 11 seasons at UCF, including an 0-11 record in 2004 as well as four years with 10 or more wins, four conference titles and a Fiesta Bowl victory in 2013.
