Tyron Woodley pursuing role in Batman V. Superman after UFC 174
Tyron Woodley will battle Rory MacDonald on Saturday night with a potential shot at the UFC welterweight title hanging in the balance, but after the fight is over he will be taking on a caped crusader and a man of steel.
Woodley has spent the last couple of years honing his skills outside the Octagon by starting to pursue an acting and stunt career in films such as 'Olympus Has Fallen' as well as TV roles such as the one he had last season in 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'.
Following his fight on Saturday night, Woodley is ready to once again pick up on his acting career with a little break following back to back training camps getting ready for MacDonald in June just after facing Carlos Condit in March.
While fighting will always remain his true passion, acting gives Woodley an outlet to explore away from the cage and something he can pursue more actively once his UFC career has come to an end.
"I had a couple of projects that I wasn't going to be able to do because they were going into this training camp, but the good thing about movies sometimes the budget's sometimes off and they have to reschedule things so there's three big projects that I'll get to work on directly after this fight," Woodley told the Great MMA Debate podcast.
"I've got a Marvel and a DC project I should be able to jump on and continue my career there as well."
Here's where things get interesting.
If the timing works out, Woodley could end up having a part in two of the biggest films for 2015 and 2016. One of which will land him in a movie starring Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman.
"Man of Steel 2 (title is now 'Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice), I've got some calls about doing that so I would love to take advantage of that if the timeframe works out. There's another movie called Ant-Man that's coming out and I might be able to get some work on that as well," Woodley revealed. "I'd like to do both and I think I'll be able to."
Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently filming in Detroit for principle photography, although the movie won't hit theaters until May 6, 2016.
As for Marvel's 'Ant-Man', that movie stars Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas in the featured roles with filming taking place primarily in Georgia. 'Ant-Man' will land in theaters on July 17, 2015.
