Twins Sunday: Ramirez put on 7-day DL
For the second time in a week, the Minnesota Twins had to put a player on the 7-day concussion disabled list.
Outfielder Wilkin Ramirez was put on the 7-day DL after Sunday's game in Detroit. Ramirez collided with left fielder Josh Willingham on Saturday and left the game. On Wednesday, third baseman Trevor Plouffe landed on the 7-day DL when he was hit in the head while sliding into second base in Atlanta.
Minnesota called up Chris Herrmann from Triple-A Rochester to take Ramirez's spot on the 25-man roster. Herrmann made his major league debut last season and had one hit in 18 at-bats in seven games in 2012.
In 43 games with Rochester this year, Herrmann is batting .238 with 12 RBI in 43 games. While Herrmann is primarily a catcher, he is also capable of playing outfield. Of his 43 games with the Red wings this year, seven have come in the outfield. He also played two games in left field with the Twins last year.
