The Minnesota Twins have recalled catcher John Ryan Murphy from Triple-A Rochester, they announced Saturday.

Murphy hit .236 (62-for-263) with 14 doubles, three home runs and 39 RBI in 83 games this season at Rochester. The 25-year-old hit .378 (17-for-45) with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBI in his last 13 games with the Red Wings.

The Twins traded for Murphy this past November, sending Aaron Hicks to the New York Yankees in exchange for him. Murphy made Minnesota's opening-day roster but hit just .075 (3-for-40) in 11 games before the Twins optioned him May 6.
