Twins option C Herrmann, call up Fryer

The Minnesota Twins have optioned catcher Chris Herrmann to Triple-A Rochester. In the corresponding roster move, the team has selected the contract of catcher Eric Fryer from Rochester.
Herrmann, 27, hit .156 in 64 at-bats for the Twins this season. Fryer, 29, hit .299 with six doubles, a home run and 22 RBI in 51 games for the Red Wings. Fryer has played in parts of four major league seasons with the Pirates (2001-12) and Minnesota (2013-14), averaging .246 in 50 games.
The Twins have transferred right-handed pitcher Ricky Nolasco to the 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster.
