The Minnesota Twins added depth at catcher on Wednesday, claiming John Hicks off of outright waivers from the Seattle Mariners.

The Richmond, Virginia native spent much of last season with Triple-A Tacoma, hitting .245 with 15 doubles, six home runs and 35 RBI.

Hicks played just 17 games for the Mariners in 2015, making his MLB debut in August, and was originally drafted in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft via the University of Virginia.
