His talents have taken him to a national level, as well. Hanneman worked four seasons as the studio host of NBA Radio, covering NBA All-Star Weekend, the NBA Game of the Week and expanded NBA playoff and draft coverage. His radio work took him to Toronto to host the 1994 World Championship of Basketball, and he hosted a weekly radio show for the BBC in London, in addition to broadcasts in Australia and New Zealand.

“I’m very excited about this opportunity and continuing the long-term relationship I’ve built with FOX Sports North,” said Tom Hanneman. “There are many great things ahead. I truly look forward to connecting with Timberwolves fans and all Minnesota sports fans at a new level.”

Hanneman has been honored with five regional Emmy Awards and recently hosted the Jack Jablonski telethon as part of Hockey Day Minnesota on FOX Sports North. Tom and his wife, Nancy have three adult children and reside in Eden Prairie.

“I’ve known and worked with Tom since 1989 and I can’t think of a better, more qualified person to take on this challenge,” said Mike Dimond, senior vice president and general manager for FOX Sports North. “We are fortunate to have someone of Tom’s experience and ability step into the main host role for FOX Sports North.”

“We’re very excited for Tom as he takes the next step in his career with FOX Sports North,” said Timberwolves President Chris Wright. “Over the last 23 years we’ve been extremely fortunate to have had someone as dedicated, passionate and talented as Tom play such a huge role in our franchise. It’s comforting to know that he will still be heavily involved in our broadcasts as the pre and postgame host. Tom is one of the great local voices of this generation and we are thrilled to be able to share his talents with each of the local sports teams in this market. We wish him the best of luck and look forward to his continued role with the Timberwolves.”
