The University of Toledo and the University of Cincinnati have announced a two-year football deal starting in October in Toledo.

The teams will play Oct. 20, 2012 at the Glass Bowl and in September, 2014 at Nippert Stadium.

Both teams are coming off successful seasons that ended with bowl wins.

"I'm excited that we are adding Cincinnati to our 2012 schedule," Toledo head coach Matt Campbell said in a statement. "I have a lot of respect for Coach Butch Jones and the Cincinnati program. This will be another challenging series that I'm sure our players and fans will look forward to."

The schools have met six times before, with Cincinnati holding a 4-2 advantage in the series. The last meeting was at the 2001 Motor City Bowl, with Toledo taking a 23-16 victory.

Cincinnati had a 10-3 record this past season, including a 31-24 victory over Vanderbilt in the Liberty Bowl. The Bearcats were Big East co-champions and finished the season ranked No. 21 in the USA Today coaches poll.

The Rockets were 9-4, 7-1 in Mid-American Conference play, and defeated Air Force, 42-41, in the Military Bowl. Campbell replaces Tim Beckman, who took over as head coach at Illinois.
