Toasting, Za Approval win Belmont stakes

NEW YORK (AP) Toasting and Za Approval won the $98,000 stakes Sunday at Belmont Park.

Toasting rallied to beat Katie's Garden by 1 1/2 lengths in the Sky Beauty for fillies and mares. Javier Castellano was aboard for trainer Tom Albertrani as the 4-year-old got her fifth win in 21 starts. She paid $8.10 to win.

The time was 1:34.49 for the mile on the fast track.

Za Approval, the even-money favorite, was the front-running winner of the Real Courage at seven furlongs on the firm turf course.

A gray 6-year-old gelding, Za Approval finished 1 3/4 lengths better than Fredericksburg with Joel Rosario in the saddle for trainer Christophe Clement.

Za Approval paid $4.20 to win in eighth victory in 22 starts. The time was 1:20.93.
