To Texas the Browns go

Colt McCoy appears to be the pick as the next leader of the Cleveland Browns.

McCoy, just four months removed from his rookie season, is acting like it.

According to the Twitter accounts of various players involved, McCoy has organized workouts for locked-out Browns players in Austin, Texas, where McCoy attended the University of Texas.

Browns receivers Mohamed Massaquoi, Joshua Cribbs, Carlton Mitchell and Jordan Norwood are among the Twitter-confirmed attendees.

Cribbs joked on his Twitter account Thursday afternoon that McCoy "picked us all up in a tractor with a hitch on the back."

Normally at this time of year, many players would be back in Cleveland for organized offseason conditioning workouts and would be preparing for on-field time, known as organized team activity (OTA) days, in May. General Manager Tom Heckert seemed pleased when he was informed Thursday that McCoy had organized the workouts; Heckert and new coach Pat Shurmur have said since February that they're ready to roll with their usual offseason activities if the lockout should reach a surprise and sudden end.

The battle for jobs at the receiver position could be a whole lot more interesting a week from now as the Browns hold the sixth overall selection in the NFL Draft.
