TMS spring race set for Final Four weekend

FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas Motor Speedway is throwing its hat into the ring for what is already a busy spring weekend in the Metroplex in 2014.

The April Sprint Cup race has been set for Sunday, April 6. That’s the same weekend as the NCAA Final Four at AT&T Stadium with the semifinals Saturday, April 5, and the championship game April 7.

The spring race had been run on Saturday night for the last three years but the shift to Sunday allows the Texas 500 to avoid any conflict with the Final Four.

The April weekend will now include the Nationwide race Friday night and Sprint Cup qualifying April 5.

The fall Sprint Cup race remains the same, with it being the eighth race in the Chase. The Nov. 2 Sprint Cup race will cap a tripleheader weekend that also includes a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race Oct. 31 and a Nov. 1 Nationwide race.

The track will once again host the IndyCar Series, with an additional 50 kilometers added to the June 7 Firestone 600. That weekend also includes a June 6 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.
