Titans QB Whitehurst arm wrestles punter for jersey number

For 13 years, the Titans' new backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst donned No. 6 before taking the field.

He wore it at Clemson. He wore it in San Diego and Seattle after making it to the NFL. He planned on wearing it in Nashville after signing a two-year contract with the Titans organization back in March.

Then, a punter got in his way.

The problem for Whitehurst was that starting punter Brett Kern shares an affinity for the number. So the two men -- the quarterback versus the punter -- decided to arm wrestle for the honor.

Whitehurst revealed the results of the match on Instagram:

To paraphrase Whitehurst's decription on Instagram: Arm-wrestled the punter for No. 6 and lost. It was a good run.
