Tischke ties game with first career goal, Badgers top Mavericks in shootout
The Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team scored first but had to fight back from a 3-1 hole before defeating the University of Nebraska Omaha Mavericks in a shootout at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wis., Friday night.
Sophomore Peter Tishke's first career goal tied the game in the third period to send the game into overtime. Ryan Wagner and Grant Besse also scored for Wisconsin (7-5-1, 0-0-0-0 Big Ten).
Teemu Pulkkinen, Tristan Keck and Fredrick Olofsson lit the lamp for Omaha (7-5-3, 3-3-0 NCHC). Mavericks goaltender Evan Weninger fended off 47 shots from the aggressive Badgers.
Wisconsin goaltender Jack Berry made 27 saves and shut out Omaha during a 2-0 shootout.
The series conclusion Saturday night at 8 p.m. wraps up Wisconsin's nonconference schedule.
