It's safe to say that Iowa Speedway is becoming one of Timothy Peters' favorite tracks.
Defending race winner Peters managed to make it back-to-back victories at the tricky 7/8-mile oval as he claimed the win in Saturday night's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series American Ethanol 200.
Peters siezed the lead from Austin Dillon with 32 laps to go, and mastered two late race restarts to score his first victory of the season, sixth of his career. 17-year-old Erik Jones wheeled his Kyle Busch Motorsports truck to second ahead of James Buescher, Ron Hornaday Jr. and Chase Elliott.
Saturday night's victory bumped Peters up two positions in the championship race to eighth, 76 points behind points leader Matt Crafton. Despite a large deficit, Peters is staying optimistic about his title chances.
"I said it coming in this week: This is going to be our springboard again, our momentum gainer," Peters said. "We started off the season this year a little rocky. We're turning that around, and we're going to shine through the summer months and we're going to shine through (the season finale at) Homestead and we're going to get that championship that was oh so close last year."
