Tim Frazier leads Pelicans past Nets

NEW YORK (AP) -- Tim Frazier had 19 points and 13 assists, Luke Babbitt added 21 points and the New Orleans Pelicans beat the Brooklyn Nets 106-87 on Sunday.

Alexis Ajinca added 16 for the Pelicans as the Nets lost their fifth straight game.

Sean Kilpatrick led the Nets with 15 points. Henry Sims and Markel Brown each had 12 for the Nets.

Thomas Robinson recorded his fourth straight double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Both teams started off poorly as New Orleans missed its first seven shots and didn't score until the 6:24 mark of the first quarter. Brooklyn shot 4-for-25 to start the game.

The Pelicans attacked the rim and finished with 60 points in the paint and wound up shooting 55 percent.

Pelicans: Coach Alvin Gentry summarized the season in New Orleans. "I would say disappointing, but more so than anything just frustrating." Point guard Tim Frazier, though, has Gentry's attention. "I think Tim Frazier has done a really good job. That's a tough position to play, but I think he's been really good at what he's done."

INJURIES

Pelicans: Anthony Davis (left knee), Ryan Anderson (sports hernia), Tyreke Evans (right knee), Eric Gordon (fractured right ring finger), Jrue Holiday (right inferior orbital wall fracture), Quincy Pondexter (left knee), Alonzo Gee (right quad), Norris Cole (lower back) and Bryce Dejean-Jones (fractured right wrist) did not dress.

Nets: Coach Tony Brown said Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young have been shut down for the season. . Donald Sloan (upper respiratory) and Jarrett Jack (right knee) did not dress.
