Throwback Thursday: Joe Nemechek's dramatic Kansas win

As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Kansas Speedway for Saturday night's SpongeBob SquarePants 400, there's no better time to look back on a memorable Kansas race from years gone by.

For this Throwback Thursday, we remember Joe Nemechek's dramatic last-lap battle with Ricky Rudd in October 2004.

Nemechek, starting from the pole in the No. 01 U.S. Army-sponsored Chevrolet, led 41 laps on the day and edged Rudd at the finish to capture his fourth and most likely final win in NASCAR's top series.

Check out the festive post-race celebration, which included Nemechek's now-17-year-old son, John Hunter, who today is a driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
