Three Takeaways from the Blue Jackets 5-2 win over the Rangers

One: The chippiness shows no signs of waning between these two teams, considering the history of players traded back and forth. For just the second game of the season, the potential for one team to let the emotions control their play was there. Columbus didn't bend, letting the frustration seep into the Rangers play. The meetings later in the season should see more of the same.

Two: Head coach Todd Richards said this morning that the Rangers speed was a concern. I guess he forgot to tell that to his players. The Blue Jackets controlled New York with aplomb throughout long stretches of the game. You can't underestimate the value of two points against a divisional opponent, even this early in the season.

Three: A stick-tap to forward Marko Dano on scoring not only his first NHL point in the first period, but also for scoring his 1st NHL goal in the third period. He took some good hits throughout the game, but was able to bounce back from whatever the Rangers threw at him.

Overtime: It's been two and a half years since "The Trade". I think it's time to put the Rick Nash trade story to bed. The players, at least the ones in Columbus, have moved on. To them, he's just another player on a team that they want to beat to get two points, nothing more. May "The Trade" rest in peace.
