Three takeaways from the Blue Jackets 5-2 loss to the Maple Leafs

One: Four goals against in the first twenty minutes was too much for the Blue Jackets to overcome in the ACC. There were lapses throughout their game in which the crisp, tape-to-tape passing went the way of the dodo bird. They had a hard time getting pucks through to the net and when they did, there were many, if any, bodies screening Toronto's goalie.

Two: They spent entirely too much time in their own zone. Gaining possession and clearing the puck in a crisp, efficient manner should be ingrained in them by now. Their aggressiveness on the forecheck went away, leading to them not playing to their identity. In a word, they lacked desperation to their game.

Three: Rookie center Alex Wennberg continues to impress with his play with and without the puck. He's taken the assignment to Springfield and worked it to his advantage, getting better with his play. The future looks bright for this kid.
