Three takeaways from the Blue Jackets 4-3 SO win in Edmonton

One: Columbus had a very hard time getting the puck out of its own zone sans icing it. The Oilers had more pace to their game, but did commit a few turnovers. The toe-drag snapshot by David Savard to put the Blue Jackets on the board first was simply beautiful.

Two: The Blue Jackets had issues with discipline, giving the Oilers far too many power plays and allowing them to dictate the flow of the game. They were not the "good" variety of penalties to take, either. This allowed Edmonton to get back into the game.

Three: The Blue Jackets turned on their forecheck late in the game after letting the Oilers back into it. They found some urgency to their game, with Marko Dano buzzing around the net. Being outshot as badly as the Blue Jackets were, it was amazing that the score didn't heavily favor the home team. Goalie Curtis McElhinney was big in net for Columbus. The win was a nice way to start the three-game road trip.
