Three takeaways from the Blue Jackets 4-3 OT loss to the Rangers

One: The Rangers had the better pace to open the game, but the Blue Jackets became more opportunistic as the opening frame wore on. Their forecheck wasn't as aggressive as New York's was, but it did gather steam as the clock ticked toward intermission. The Calvert goal from Morin's shot makes you wonder "what if" they had been healthy all season?

Two: They settled into a rhythm in the second period, controlling the pace when they could, although they had a few too many giveaways early. As they got into the period, their identity started to assert itself, with their forecheck rolling at a good clip to reign-in the Rangers fast transition game.

Three: Even though the Blue Jackets got progressively better throughout the game, you knew it would be a goaltending battle that decided this game. Both goalies made outstanding saves. In the extra frame, it was a track meet. Alas, the Rangers were better with their seam passing which ultimately led to the game-winning goal.
