One: In spite of the loss, one word stands out about this club. And that's "resilient." On the second night of a back-to-back and chasing the game, they never gave up. For the last game before the Olympic break, they left all that they had on the ice, coming up short by the final horn. These aren't your parents' Blue Jackets.
Two: San Jose was the faster team and Columbus couldn't seem to counter that speed. The Sharks shot the puck from every conceivable angle. As for the Blue Jackets, not so much. Not enough pucks were thrown at the Sharks netminder. The ones that were directed toward the net seemed to be off the mark.
Three: The line of Nathan Horton, Ryan Johansen and Boone Jenner continues to click along with multi-point games. Matt Calvert was another standout from this game with all of the hustle he showed. They may be young, but they're learning.
Overtime: The Olympic break will do them well. Many need the break to recover their energy and health. This should be a good thing for the club, with them playing back up to speed on the other side of the break. Columbus is 4th in the Metro, one point behind the Flyers and four points behind the Rangers. Buckle up, it's going to be a wild ride to the finish.
