Three Takeaways from Blue Jackets Win over Edmonton

Three Takeaways from Blue Jackets Win over Edmonton

One: They played "Blue Jackets" hockey for just over 2 periods of play and got away with the win. Their forecheck was strong, while the guys were feisty and putting good pressure on Edmonton. They created scoring chances throughout the first two periods, along with causing Edmonton to turn the puck over. They need to play this way against Boston tomorrow, only play that way for the full 60 minutes.

Two: Everyone chipped in tonight, with goals coming from Johansen, Anisimov (PP), Foligno (PP) and Skille. The forwards were defensively sound, while the defense was doing a credible job of shutting the Oilers down and not letting them have many chances. Once again, see number one above. They NEEDto play a consistent 60 minutes of hockey to start stringing together multiple wins.

Three: The jury is still out on waiver acquisition Corey Tropp. In his first game in Union Blue he went 0-1-1, +1 in 6:35 of ice time. He brought energy and grit on almost every shift he had. Both President of Hockey Operations John Davidson and head coach Todd Richards said there is "upside" to Tropp. A few more games and we should know the answer to that question.
