Three Mount Union players named pre-season All-Americans

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Mount Union seniors in safety Nick Driskill (Wabash, Ind./Southwood), offensive lineman Antonio Tate (Cleveland/Villa Angela-St. Joseph) and defensive end Charles Dieuseul (Winter Haven, Fla./Lake Region) all have been named preseason All-Americans by D3Football.com.
Driskill and Tate were first team picks while Dieuseul was on the second team.
Driskill was the D3Football.com National Defensive Player of the Year and All-American, Ohio Athletic Conference Lee Tressel Defensive Back of the Year in 2011, AP Little All-America, AFCA All-American. He had a team-high 113 tackles, 17 of those for loss, along with 6.5 sacks, four interceptions, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and a blocked kick.
Tate was an All-American and won the Ken Wable Award as the OAC's best offensive lineman as he started all 15 games on the offensive line a season ago.
Dieuseul, an All-American in 2011 who won the Paul Hornemann Award as the OAC's top defensive lineman of the year, had 78 stops with a team-best 20.5 tackles for loss including 10.5 sacks.
The Purple Raiders enter the 2012 season winners of 20 consecutive OAC championships dating back to 1992. Mount Union has played in each of the last seven Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowls (NCAA Division III National title game) and the Raiders have a record 10 NCAA Division III National Championships. This coming season also marks Larry Kehres' 27th as head coach at Mount Union and he enters the campaign with a 317-24-3 (.925) record.
The 2012 season starts on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 1:30 pm with a game at Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana.
