Three Hearts wins $100K Red Carpet Handicap at Del Mar

Three Hearts ended a 19-month winless streak with a half-length victory in the $100,000 Red Carpet Handicap at 29-1 odds Saturday at Del Mar.

Ridden by Joe Talamo, Three Hearts ran 1 3/8 miles on the Jimmy Durante turf course in 2:15.54 and paid $61.40, $25 and $11.60.

Lady of Gold returned $13.60 and $8.40, while Lady Pimpernel was another neck back in third and paid $4.80.

Three Hearts had been winless since April 2013 at Keeneland. Her third victory in 14 career starts increased her earnings to $192,249.

Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens won his first race since July 25, having come back from knee replacement surgery.
