Texas St. wins 1st of its season, 70-52 vs. Tulane
PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico (AP) -- Kavin Gilder-Tilbury scored 15 points and led three other players in double figures as Texas State secured its first win of the season, 70-52 over Tulane on Friday night.
Wesley Davis scored 14 points, Joel Wright finished with 12 and Phil Hawkins added 11 for Texas State (1-5).
Tulane (4-3) couldn't find its rhythm behind the arc, shooting just 2 of 10 (20 percent) as the Bobcats fared much better, finishing 5 of 10 on 3-pointers in the opening round of the Cure UCD Classic.
Louis led the Green Wave with a game-high 17 points, and Jay Hook followed with 16. Tulane opened the season with four straight wins but has lost its last three matchups.
The Bobcats have shot slightly more than 40 percent from the field this season, but surpassed the low percentage Friday after finishing at 56 percent from the floor.
